Pavers Coming Up The Driveway

The paver company has been on site since early Wednesday, setting the pavers and bringing them up the driveway.  This will be a big welcome and relief over the dirt and clumsy rocky driveway that has been there since the since the first grading and clearing of the lot.  It's looking very luxurious and the colors are blending in perfectly with the surrounding desert and the house itself.  It's an exciting time as things are finally coming together!

And it was such a beautiful morning this Saturday, with crystal clear blue skies and a nice breeze.

Dumpster Finally Removed!

We are finally at the point where the dumpster can be moved further away from the house. For the last six months, it's been blocking most of the front of the house from the street view. Now it's moved far enough away that we can get a full shot of the front of the house.

We also put up the first samples of exterior colors on the front of the house.  George compares the color on the stucco to the color of the paint swatch.

Scaffolding Removed!

After almost 3 full months, the scaffolding is finally removed! The stucco is now curing for another three weeks or so, to allow the lime and calcium come to the surface. At that point, the final step of washing and painting will begin.

Drywall Hanging Complete

The workers completed hanging the drywall early Saturday.  The next step is taping and mudding, which will start on Monday.  They should be done by the end of next week.

Drywall Has Begun In Earnest

The workers started putting up the drywall this morning.  By the end of the day, when I stopped by after work, there was quite a stark change to what it was just two days ago.  Most of the rooms have the ceiling and upper quarter of the walls finished.  A couple rooms are complete.

Plumbing Rough

The framing for the house has completed, so now the mechanical, plumbing and electrical are proceeding. The plumber has nearly completed all of the rough-in for the pipes throughout the house.  Here are some photos of the pipes.

Awning Framed Over Guest Bedroom

This week, the framers have been working mostly on the roof.  Today, they were working on the frames of the awnings that will be over four of the windows.  We will be putting a rusted "Corten Steel" application on the roof of the awning, and then staining the exposed wood a dark color, adding a very inviting rustic feel to the house.

View of House from Afar

Several of you asked for photos of the full house, from afar, to get a feel for what it looks like. I aim to please, so here are some shots.  The framers are working on the roof, so the internal changes aren't as noticeable anyway.
