House at Night

George and I visited the house last night after a lovely dinner.  The electricity isn't turned on yet, so the house was nearly pitch black inside and around.  Only the city lights (and our cell phones) provided enough illumination to take a long exposure.  That ghostly image in the courtyard is George with his cell phone looking around while I took the long exposure.

Light Fixtures Installed

Last week we got a bit closer to completion when the electrician installed most of the light fixtures and ceiling fans around the house.  The house is still rather dusty and there's no power yet, so the light fixtures look a bit drab.  But here are some photos to give a taste of what they look like.

Driveway Complete

The workers finished the driveway this morning, bringing the house that much closer to completion.  It really gives a nice finish to the house, and a big relief from the dirt and rocks that has been the existing driveway for almost a year.

Pavers Coming Up The Driveway

The paver company has been on site since early Wednesday, setting the pavers and bringing them up the driveway.  This will be a big welcome and relief over the dirt and clumsy rocky driveway that has been there since the since the first grading and clearing of the lot.  It's looking very luxurious and the colors are blending in perfectly with the surrounding desert and the house itself.  It's an exciting time as things are finally coming together!

And it was such a beautiful morning this Saturday, with crystal clear blue skies and a nice breeze.

Getting Er Done!

Lots of subs working at the house today, including the finish framer, tile, pavers, and glass installation for the showers.  Good thing we live on a cul-de-sac, so all these trucks can park!

Exterior Paint In Progress

The painters have applied the initial coat of paint to the Exterior of the house.  The three main colors are mostly complete. Next step is the cutting in of the corners and touching up areas missed.

Courtyard Wall

Things are moving along. Last week, they built the wall around the courtyard in front of the den.  The tilers are finishing up and the plumber is topping out with the fixtures.
